Cat Litter Usage Guidelines Manual

Introduction

This manual provides guidance on how to properly select and use cat litter to ensure normal device operation, a comfortable experience for your cat, and to avoid cleaning issues or device malfunctions caused by improper use.

Recommended Cat Litter Amount

Please add litter to the litter box so that it stays between the MAX and MIN marks.

  • Too little litter: Waste may stick to the bottom or sides of the box and may affect AI recognition accuracy.

  • Too much litter: Excess litter may be filtered into the waste drawer, causing unnecessary waste.

Cat Litter Types & Filter Matching Guide

Luma is equipped with two types of filters, suitable for different types of cat litter.

1. Round-holed-filter

Suitable for most common clumping litters, including: Mineral litter, Bentonite litter, Clay litter. These litters have strong clumping ability and do not easily crumble.

2. Long-pellet-filter (Large Slots – For Lightweight & Long-Granule Litters)

Suitable for lightweight or larger-grain litters, such as: Tofu litter, Mixed litter (e.g., tofu + mineral litter)

These litters are lightweight or elongated in shape. The slotted filter helps prevent them from being filtered out too early, reducing waste.

Unsupported Cat Litter Types

The following types of cat litter are not recommended, as they may cause poor clumping, sticking to the bottom, clogging, or recognition errors:

Wood fiber litter (poor clumping, easily sticks to the bottom)

Tapioca litter (poor clumping, easily sticks to the bottom)

Crystal litter (non-clumping, cannot be cleaned properly)

Usage Tips & Precautions

  • Before first use, install the appropriate filter according to the type of cat litter selected.

  • Regularly check the litter level and keep it within the recommended range.

  • If you change the type of cat litter, be sure to change the filter accordingly.

  • When cleaning the waste bin, observe any remaining litter to determine whether the litter amount or filter type needs adjustment.

FAQ

A: Please check whether the litter amount is too low or if an unsupported litter type is being used.

3. Can I mix two types of cat litter?
