A: Yes, each Scout camera requires its own Video Cloud AI subscription to access cloud storage and AI-powered features. This helps ensure every camera delivers smart, personalized insights.

Q: How is this camera different from other pet or home cameras?

A: Scout is an AI-powered pet camera that goes beyond watching, it understands. It recognizes each of your pets, learns their behavior, and sends you real-time updates (yes, even selfies!). With smart recaps delivered to your phone, you’ll get the moments that matter. No endless scrolling required.

Q: Can Scout recognize all of my pets individually?

A: Right now, Scout recognizes up to five dogs or cats, especially when they have noticeable differences in size, color, or patterns. If you have two pets that look nearly identical, like two black short-haired cats or similar Golden Retrievers, Scout may have a harder time telling them apart. We're always working to make Scout's AI smarter over time.

Q: What behaviors can Scout detect? Does it track everything my pet does?

A: Scout currently detects key activities like eating, drinking, using the litter box (cats only), and even pet selfies. It also picks up on general movement and flags fun surprises, like a good cat stretch. While it may not catch everything perfectly just yet, Scout learns and improves with your feedback, getting smarter over time.

Q: How does video storage work? Do I need a subscription?

A: Scout uses cloud storage only, no SD card needed. To access all features, including AI-powered activity tracking and smart recaps, you'll need a subscription to our Video Cloud AI service. A: Yes, you can share access with up to 5 family members or friends. They can watch live, view videos and pictures captured from the livestream, and check activity recaps. However, to protect your own settings, they won’t be able to control the pan-and-tilt view or two-way audio.

Q: Can I talk to my pet through Scout?

A: Yes! Scout features two-way audio, so you can hear your pet and talk to them in real time, no matter where you are. It's a great way to stay connected (and reassure them you're not that far away).

Q: Will Scout alert me if my pet is barking, meowing, or making noise?

A: Not yet. Scout can detect sound, but it can’t identify specific types like barking or meowing just yet. We're working on it, so stay tuned for future updates.

Q: Does the camera work at night or in low light?

A: Yes, the Scout offers both automatic black-and-white and color night vision. You can customize your preferred settings in the app.

Q: Can the camera follow my pet if they move around?

A: Yes. Scout features auto pet tracking with a pan-and-tilt function to keep your pet in view. Just note: when tracking is on, the extra movement can slightly affect behavior recognition accuracy, since it gives the AI more motion to interpret.

A: Support for Alexa, Google Home, or other smart home systems is not available yet. However, Scout keeps you in the loop with real-time notifications, from pet activity and behavior highlights to important updates like changes in your Wi-Fi connection.

A: Scout comes with a 30-day, no-questions-asked return policy. If it’s not the right fit, just send it back.
