A: No, the Dockstream 2 has two models and only the cordless one runs on batteries.
Q: If I buy two fountains, will my pet’s data be combined?
A: That depends. With a Petlibro Care subscription, data from all fountains is synced. Without it, each fountain tracks separately.
Q: How often should I refill the water?
A: That depends on how many pets you have, whether they're cats or dogs, and how thirsty they get. If you have one cat, refilling about twice a week is a good rule of thumb. You might need twice that amount for a small dog.
Q: When should I change the filter?
A: We recommend replacing the fountain's filter every 2 weeks to keep your pet's water clean and fresh.
Q: When does the fountain send water alerts?
A: The Dockstream 2 sends two water alerts. The low-water alert is triggered when there’s still a small amount of water in the tank, giving you time to refill it. The water shortage alert is triggered when the tank is so low that the fountain has stopped flowing to prevent damage. In this case, you should refill the water immediately.
Q: Can I put the fountain in the dishwasher?
A: No, only the stainless steel water tray is dishwasher-safe. All the other components must be washed by hand.
Q: Do I still need to use a filter if I’m filling the tank with purified water?
A: Yes, you still need a filter. The 4-layer filtration system removes heavy metals, fur, and odors to keep your pet’s water fresh and inviting.
Q: What happens if the water in the tank runs out?
A: You’ll get a low-water alert when it’s time to refill the tank, but we get it—life gets busy. If you miss a refill and there’s no water in the tank, the water pump rotor will shut down to prevent damaging the fountain.
Q: Why does the fountain sometimes fail to register when my pet is drinking?
A: This might happen for a few reasons. If your pet plays with their water, it can interfere with detection. It could be that the amount drunk is too small (under 2ml) to detect. In sensor-activated mode, if your pet approaches and drinks from behind the fountain, the sensor might not catch them. If this is the case, try placing the fountain against a wall.
Q: Can I use Dockstream 1 filters with the Dockstream 2 Smart Cordless Fountain?
A: Yes, as long as your filters were purchased in 2026 or later.
Q: Will my pet’s historic data be lost if I disconnect my Dockstream 2?
A: No. Your pet’s data is stored in the cloud, so you’ll have instant access to it as soon as you reconnect. Their data will only be erased if you reset the fountain to its factory settings.
Q: Does the Dockstream 2 Cordless Fountain track hydration data?
A: Yes, it tracks detailed drinking data for you in the app. See historical water intake, number of drinking sessions, the average drinking duration, and specifics for each session, like time and amount. It can also tell you your pet’s daily total water consumption and how they’re progressing toward the goal you set.
Q: How does the pump-free design work?
A: The Dockstream 2 Smart Cordless Fountain has a small magnetic rotor in the bottom of the water tank that pairs with the magnetic driver in the fountain base. As the rotor spins, it pushes water from the tank to the drinking tray, creating fresh, flowing water for your pet, without the need for a traditional pump.
Q: How long does it take to fully charge the fountain?
A: Recharging takes about seven to eight hours when the fountain isn’t being used. If you charge it while in use, it’ll take about 10 hours to fully charge.
Q: How long does the battery last?
A: If used for one pet, the battery can last up to 30 days.* If you have more than one pet, the battery may need to be rechanged more often. *Based on 30 drinking sessions per day with each session lasting 45 seconds.
